200Ah LiFePO4 Battery for a 600W Off-Grid Solar System: What to Check

Is a 200Ah LiFePO4 battery a good match for a 600W off-grid solar system? The useful answer depends on voltage, daily energy demand and the inverter, not the amp-hour number alone. Here are the checks to make before choosing a kit.

Convert 200Ah into battery energy

A battery's amp-hour rating needs its voltage for context. At a nominal 12.8V, 200Ah is 2,560Wh, or 2.56kWh of nominal energy (12.8 × 200). Actual usable energy can be lower due to battery limits, inverter losses and operating conditions. Compare that figure with your daily load estimate in watt-hours, not with panel wattage by itself.

Estimate your daily demand

Write down each appliance's power rating in watts and its likely hours of use per day. Multiply watts by hours for each appliance, then total the watt-hours. Remember that devices with motors can draw extra power when starting. For equipment that runs intermittently, use measured consumption where possible instead of assuming it runs at its label rating all day.

Understand the 600W panel rating

Two 300W panels give 600W of rated panel power under test conditions. Solar generation varies by season, shading, orientation and weather, so this rating does not translate into a fixed daily kWh figure or a guaranteed battery recharge time. Site-specific estimates are more useful than a generic promise.

Check the inverter and charging components

The inverter's VA rating and its continuous and surge capabilities need to suit the loads you intend to connect. The charge controller, battery and cabling also need to be compatible with the installation. A qualified installer can assess protection, wiring and suitability for your site.

Explore the 600W Victron kit

Our 600W off-grid solar system with Victron 200Ah LiFePO4 battery includes two 300W Perlight Delta panels, a Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/50 controller, a 12.8V 200Ah Victron battery and a Victron MultiPlus 12/1200/50-16 230V VE.Bus inverter/charger. Check the product page for the full list of included connection parts and mounting feet.

If your calculated demand or appliance start-up load is close to a system limit, confirm the design with an installer rather than relying on a headline wattage or amp-hour figure.
